About the Artist
Charles Hurst

A little bit about the artist......

Charles Hurst retired from a 40 year career as a fire protection designer/consultant in 2000 and returned to his boyhood home in Central Texas.  He now lives in the 100 year old farmhouse he grew up in on 20 acres of wooded undeveloped land.  He is a largely, self taught artist who works in varied media including watercolor, pen and ink, pencil, charcoal and anything else that strikes his fancy.

His style and subject matter are very eclectic and range from realistic to abstract, from comic to macabre.  He does commissioned portraits from photos or snapshots in watercolor or drawing media.  He has done commissioned portraits of pets and houses, also.  His work is in many private collections, work places and a few websites.

Charles took a couple years of art classes at the University of Houston after the military, before starting a career and marriage.  He completed the Famous Artist course.  He also completed several drawing classes at the Arkansas Arts Center and numerous workshops throughout his life.  He is currently a Signature member of the MidSouthern Watercolorists Society, which he currently has a painting that was accepted in their current exhibit.
